We currently offer the following infusions in our center:

Remicade (Infiximab) is an intravenous (IV) medication for Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriasis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Chron's Disease, Inflammatory Bowel Arthritis, Recurrent Uveitis, Adult Stills Disease, Vasculitis, Undifferentiated Spondyloarthropathy, Pyoderma Gangrenosum and other inflammatory diseases.

This medication belongs to a new and exciting group of medications, called "Biologicals."  These medications are very specific and very effective.  In many cases patients will be pain and swelling free while on  Remicade. The infusion itself takes about 2 1/2 - 3 hrs including set-up time.  It is painless and allergic reactions are overall rare.  Remicade  infusions are covered by most insurance companies including Medicare.

Dr. Ratiner was one of the first private physicians to offer infusion service in an outpatient setting and has taught other Rheumatologists to perform this procedure in their offices.

Our Tarzana center currently has over 50 patients getting Remicade infusions.  We have a comfortable infusion room with recliners and excellent nurses.

The benefits to getting the Remicade infusion on an outpatient basis are clear:

  • COST -- outpatient infusions cost about half or less of inpatient infusions.  If you have a co-pay or deductible that can make a very large difference.
  • YOUR TIME IS VALUABLE -- Since you do not have to check into a hospital and redo endless paperwork we can perform the infusion (include prep and post infusion monitoring) in 2-3hrs (often less than half the time it takes in a hospital)
  • FAMILIARITY -- Since you always get the same nurse, you are able to develop a better rapport and familiarity with the person providing the infusion which can lead to better and more reproducible results.
  • CONVENIENCE -- We provide a comfortable infusion are with comfortable infusion chairs, TV, VCR and Arthritis Library to make the time go by faster.

IVIG is an intravenous (IV) medication used for used for hypogammaglobulinemia, ITP, Lupus Nephritis, Wegener's, polymyositis, dermatomyositis, inclusion body myositis, chronic inflammatory demylinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), Kawasaki, Guillain-Barre, myasthenia gravis, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, membranous nephropathy, IgA nephropathy, HUS-TTP.

The infusion itself takes about 4-10hrs including set-up time, depending on the amount given.  It is painless and allergic reactions are overall rare.

This infusion is covered by most insurance companies including Medicare.

Aridia (Pamidronate) is an intravenous (IV) medication used for Osteoporosis.  Though this drug has been used for many years for other purposes it is now also available for Osteoporosis patients that cannot tolerate oral bisphosphonates ( these are medications such as Fosomax and Actonel).

The great thing about this medication is that only one infusion every 3 months should have as much benefit on your bones as taking oral bisphosphonates every day or weekly all year round. Four infusions per years vs. 365 pill per year (if daily) or 48 pills per year (if weekly) -- you decide!!

The infusion itself takes about 1 1/2 - 2hrs including set-up time.  It is painless and allergic reactions are overall rare.

This infusion is covered by most insurance companies including Medicare.

Zometa (Zolendronic Acid) is an intravenous (IV) medication used for Osteoporosis.  Though this drug has been used for many years for other purposes it has also recently been used for Osteoporosis patients that cannot tolerate oral bisphosphonates ( these are medications such as Fosomax and Actonel).

The great thing about this medications is that only one infusion twice per year should have as much benefit on your bones as taking oral bisphosphonates every day or weekly all year round. Two infusions per years vs. 365 pill per year (if daily) or 48 pills per year (if weekly) -- you decide!!

The infusion itself takes about 1 hr including set-up time.  It is painless and allergic reactions are overall rare.

At this time insurance companies are not covering Zometa infusions for Osteoporosis but we hope that will change in the near future.  If you wish to get Zometa for your Osteoporosis at this time you will need to pay cash.
